Mixproof Valves Explained

Operating Principle

The Alfa Laval Unique mixproof valve is a normally closed (NC) valve that is controlled from a remote location by means of compressed air.

Two independent plug seals separate the two liquids, and the space between the two seals forms an atmospheric chamber. When the valve is open the chamber is closed, allowing the product to flow from one line to the other without spillage.

All Unique mixproof valves are equipped with Alfa Laval ThinkTop valve sensing and control devices, which fulfill regulatory requirements for detection of seat lift and feedback signal.

Modular Concept

During operation, the Unique valve family uses the same spare parts, making inventory unnecessary. If you do need extra functionality in the future, it can be added to your existing valve. Only the upgraded parts need to be added.

For example, it is possible to change the configuration from an unbalanced to a balanced plug with external CIP by changing just three parts of the valve, while all other components remain the same.
